Weekly Digest #2

So I slacked on the weekly digest, but (BUT) I am really committed to these now that match is officially over. The biggest relief of my life. Also, I’m employed? Wild. Especially since I have been paying to work the last few years.

Now for the digest:

Gaming: I finished Dragon Age: Inquisition! It was a ~70-hour play-through. I have no ragrets. I just started Veilguard a couple of days ago, and so far I like it. I know it has some negative reviews, but to be honest, I’m just not ready to leave the Dragon Age universe yet. I will say, my favorite game out of the series is Origins, and I *doubt* that will change with Veilguard. Full review of the series to come (eventually).

Reading: I’m out of my slump! No, it wasn’t Madame Bovary who came to the rescue. It was Lukas by Carian Cole. It’s a rockstar (but also tattoo artist?) romance, and the overarching theme was change and how people handle it. Given the fact that I’ll be moving thousands of miles in a couple of months, and basically starting completely over, this book really hit. I also want more tattoos, so it also fed my need for ink. The romance was chef’s kiss too, not too instalove and the characters were just the right amount of complicated for me. It was an easy 5/5 anddddd now I’m binging rockstar romances. Should I do a ranking of my favorite rockstar romances? Lmk lmk

Writing: Okay, so my sci-fi novel is on pause because what started as a fan fic has now taken on a life of its own and has become my main focus– not mad about this. I’ve been writing fan fic since I was 11 years old, and recently I’ve been gripped by nostalgia, so this feels like the perfect expression of that.

I also successfully led my first creative writing workshop! It was a group of medical students, and I was really blown away at the talent everyone possessed. Though I led the workshop, I felt like I learned so much from all of them, and I can’t wait to keep doing these in the future. There is SO much room for creativity in medicine.

Fitness: Ugh, I’ve been slacking. I have lost weight, but mostly because I’ve been too busy to go to the grocery store. However, I meal prepped yesterday and am getting back to following the Sweat app today! So hopefully there will be some progress (or at least consistency) to report on next week.

Med school: I matched!!! At my top choice!!! I had to re-read the email again and again before I let myself believe I actually matched where I did. I don’t want to talk about med school too much on this blog. I feel like my life is so consumed by academics in my day-to-day that I don’t need to reminisce on it too much in my off time, but it is a huge part of my life, and matching at my number one felt like the biggest relief in history. Like I can breathe for the first time in four years.

Art: When I was on my trips, I took a lot of photos on film! In the next few months, I’ll be moving somewhere that will be incredible for photography too– very excited about that. Additionally, I have been learning more Photoshop/lightroom for my digital photography. Maybe I’ll make a blog post on that at some point?

Last thing, I want to get back to painting regularly. I used to find so much peace in oil painting, and I could use that going into residency.

Hyperfixation songs: Bad Girls Club by Falling in Reverse & Disco by Metro Station

Ok, well happy digest day! (mmm sounds kinda weird, but we’re rolling with it)
