Am I a…?

Am I a gamer? A new series where I talk about how I am a gamer. 

Except, am I? I use a Mac. I mean, it’s not a deal breaker, but it feels like it could disqualify me from using the title. I plan on building a PC one day. When I’m slightly less in debt and done with board exams, but for now, I am a Mac gamer. Ugh, did I just give myself the ick with that statement? (but actually my Mac has held up pretty well– I just don’t have access to 99% of the games I want to play on it)

So, anyway, this is my journey into gaming. It was born of my love for Star Wars, and after I watched all the movies (yes, literally all of them, not just the trilogies, and yes, this does give me a slight superiority complex, but that’s for my therapist and not the blog) and read a lot of the books I came across Revan. So obviously, I had to play the Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) for the full lore. Before this, I really was not into video games. I mean, I played the Sims growing up, but nothing more. My expectations going into KOTOR were that I would have to deal with the gaming “stuff” to be able to experience the story. However, to my surprise, I loved the gaming “stuff”. I loved exploring, I loved the side quests, and I even liked the combat. 

And so I finished that game. And immediately played KOTOR 2. And I finished that, which brings us to the present day. Actually, the present last week, but whatever. I thought to myself, Now what do I do? Because, on a Mac, I have limited options for Star Wars games– especially ones that run on the new Macs. In my time of need, I turned to Reddit, shout out r/macgaming™, who led me to Pathfinder Kingmaker. 

**side note** My taste in games = CRPGs, so I specifically searched for this. CRPG = character stat matters, heavy narrative (I think? So correct if I am wrong please, because I’m getting all this from reddit, which is a great, if not questionable, source) **side note over**

So here I am. I’ve made my character, I have found a guide (because I was told this was probably needed, especially if you don’t want to lose members of your party and I do be getting attached rip Bastila and Kreia, why did you have to turn to the dark side???), and I am trying to figure out mods on Mac because not being able to rotate the camera drives me absolutely crazy. My next post in this series will be about modding my Mac; we’ll see how that goes.
